Rainbow Riches: Pure Pots review

Another variation of the Rainbow Riches theme, with no features available other than pots, pure pots! The various fruit wins are the same as those from the original Rainbow Riches, with twenty win lines paying various wins from 50p, right up to £25 for a five of a kind Rainbow Riches win. A full screen of Rainbow Riches symbols, covering the full twenty win lines pays the £500 jackpot.

The only reason most people play Rainbow Riches is for the pots feature, so Barcrests thinking was presumably; why not make that the only feature available? Well they have done it with this, but with three level of pot bonus available. It is worth noting that all three levels of bonus can pay the gold pot (maximum win of £500).

Unlike traditional Rainbow Riches with just three pot symbols available, one on each of the centre three reels, Pure Pots has five available, one for each of the reels.

Three pots of gold symbols anywhere in view can now award the traditional Pots of Gold feature, as found on many of the earlier version of Rainbow Riches. Four and five in view offer a considerable upgrade. The three pots feature will offer the chance of winning either the gold, silver, or bronze pots. Four of a kind pots eliminates the bronze, so just gold and silver are available, massively increasing the value of the feature. Five pots anywhere in view automatically pays the £500 jackpot. This is good in that it will not effect the gold pot, which will be left alone. If high, you may wish to carry on playing for the gold pot, which can be won from either of the two lower features.

Super Spins

I’m not a fan of the Super Spin upgrades that many bookie slot machines now have, as they are a cynical attempt to get around the government imposed limits on the maximum stake. However, this is one of the few exceptions in that the win-ability of the game markedly increases with the massive £20 per play Super Spin. When played on this stake, the percentage increases to 94% (remember when they were always 94%?), and you get five Super Spins, equivalent to £4 a spin.

The good part here is that the Pots of Gold symbols not only become wild, but also ‘sticky’, so they remain in place for the duration of the Super Spin game play. For example, if two Pots of Golds land on any of the five reels on the first spin, you will not only likely get a win as they act as wilds, but they will also remain in place for the remainder of the spins. So just one more will award the Pots of Gold bonus.

Be very cautious here though, as £20 per play is a large amount of money, and a few poor spins can result in a large loss in a short amount of time.

When playing on Super Spins, the maximum win can not exceed £500 for the duration of the spins, this means that if you have for example a high reel win made up of sticky wild pots, and four pots, you can not win gold if it will take your combined win above £500. This could result in a difference of several hundreds of pounds between the silver and gold pots.
