X-Factor Steps to Stardom review

Sometime in our lives we all dream of becoming a pop star but do we have the X-Factor? For many years now, Simon Cowell has been creating stars and found some great singers as well as Jedward and Wagner. This video slots game from Fremantle Media is an excellent version of the show and is definitely a big hit, probably even a Christmas Number One. The success of this game begins with its look and soundtrack. The background setting is a TV studio with the fans cheering on their favourites and wondering how some of the contestants have got this far. The music is the theme from the TV show, nothing else would have been acceptable really. The X-Factor Steps to Stardom is a five reel and 20 payline game and the minimum stake for a spin is just £0.05 and the maximum £500. Simply decide on a stake that you feel comfortable with, if you’re able to withstand losses of £500 a spin then have a go, mind you if you can you’re probably Simon Cowell trying to get rid of some loose change. Alternatively, just play this, or some of our other free games for fun.

Have a good look through the paytable and enjoy some free games before you risk your account balance. That way you’ll be fully prepared to play the game and this will put you in a position where you fully understand the bonus games. Symbols in the game are thankfully all theme-related, there’s no playing cards auditioning here, though I suppose they could always sing ‘The Joker’ or ‘Deck of Cards.’ It’s good to see that the designers have put total effort into producing a game that plays up to its theme throughout. Symbols therefore include an audience ticket, a speaker, microphone, CD, a silhouetted singer, the X-Factor logo and male and female singers. In addition to this there are two bonus symbols that can help win you some great prizes. There’s a giant ‘X’ and a ‘Judges Bonus’. There’s no wild symbol in this game which is a bit out of the ordinary these days. Playing the game is no problem at all. All the required control buttons are neatly placed at the bottom of the screen. There’s an autospin feature in ‘Family Fortunes’ but it only goes up to ten spins. You can play this game whenever and wherever you want on your mobile devices and on your PC without the need for a download.

Bonus Features

The Boot Camp Bonus game is triggered when you manage to get at least three of the X’ symbols on an active payline. This gets you some free spins and just how many you get depends on how many ‘X’ symbols were on the reels. Three gets you five free spins, four gives you ten and if five appear then that’s 15 free spins and you can do plenty of damage with that. During this bonus round, all the winning combinations are worth more than in regular play. Also you have the task of collecting some silver stars. Ten of these get you entry into the live show and you have a big decision to make here.

There are three awards – Performance, Judges Verdict and Audience Reaction – and each has a cash value for you to win. You’re allowed to turn down the first and second but if you do then you have to accept the third one. Next up is the Judges Bonus. If you can get at least three of the Judges Bonus symbols then a mini-game begins. You find yourself in a scary position facing four judges and hoping the evil one is in a good mood for a change. The aim here is to press the ‘Reveal Verdict’ button to find out whether the first judge has been impressed with you and says ‘Yes.’ If they do this gets you a cash prize and this can be doubled up three more times as you find out what the other judges think. As soon as you get a ‘No’ then the game is over and you win nothing.

This is a great game to play and if you love the TV series then you’re going to absolutely adore it. The bonus games are really entertaining to play and even without a wild symbol there are plenty of good wins to be had here.
