Star Trek review

It’s crazy to think that Star Trek has nearly been around for half a century now. Over that time there have been several series and a fair few Star-Trek themed slot games too. Here’s another one from IGT but rather than being based on the TV series, this takes its inspiration from the new movies. They’re the ones that show Kirk, Spock, Scotty and the rest of the crew of the Enterprise in the early stages of their career.

The backdrop to the reels show space as we travel to find planets that we’ve never encountered before. There we can fall in love with women, get into trouble and have Kirk and the team somehow save the day.

There are five reels in this game and three rows of symbols. The game seems to be centred inside one of those control monitors on the Enterprise. There are a total of thirty fixed paylines in the game. Playing the game costs between £0.30 and £60. That’s a good range but probably not one quite high enough to satisfy high rollers.

The symbols include images of the actors that play Kirk, Spock, Scotty and Uhuru. There’s also a Federation badge and then the low value Ten to Ace playing card symbols.

There are several bonus symbols, one for each of the main characters. These can help get you into the bonus game if your luck is in, more about that in a moment. Look out for the Star Trek Wild as this can substitute for other symbols to get you some important wins.

‘Star Trek’ does have several bonus games so it’s important that you find out as much as you can about them. Take a look through the paytable and the game rules to find out what they are all about.

Have some free games too and that will help show you how the game and its various elements work before risking your real cash. You could find yourself playing this game for a fair while, if that’s the case then take advantage of the autospin feature to set between ten and fifty automated spins.

Bonus Features

There’s an impressive four bonus games here. Each of them is based on one of the four main characters in the movie. To trigger the bonus round you need two standard bonus symbols on the second and third reels plus a character bonus symbol on the fourth. When you play the bonus games you’ll notice that there is a slightly different set of reels, these are related in some way to the particular character.

To start this, you are asked to choose one of three transporter pads, this determines what kind of bonus you’ll get. The four bonus games are as follows:

Kirk’s Bonus gives you between three and six free spins with a 3x multiplier. With each of the spins you get to continue spinning away until a winning combination comes along.

It may be Spock’s Bonus but some emotions will be allowed. Not surprising as you are awarded between ten and fifteen free spins. During the free spins there are Wild Spock symbols on the reels so there are even more chances to win. Keep an eye out for the Kirk symbol because If that forms a winning combination your win will be doubled.

With Uhuru’s Bonus you’re given between six and twelve spins. During these there will be more scatter symbols on the reels to help win you some more cash.

Finally, there’s Scotty’s Bonus if you’ve got enough power. This gives you ten free spins with a multiplier between 2x and 5x. After five spins your multiplier doubles.

Star Trek fans will love this and so will those of you who love slot games with plenty going on. There are lots of handy features here with ample opportunities to get some good wins. The soundtrack isn’t going to drive you insane and the symbols definitely enhance the theme. This is definitely a game to play.
