Triple Diamond review

It’s always good to take a look at how slot games were in days gone by. IGT produce plenty of games that have a modern look and very good they are indeed. With ‘Triple Diamond’ though we have a game that looks just like the games that were commonplace in arcades and pubs many years ago but with a few modern-day features added to them.

IGT have already had success with their ‘Double Diamond’ games so it’s perhaps inevitable that we end up with this ‘Triple Diamond’ slot. The look of the game really is just like the machines more elderly readers will have grown up with. To be honest though it does look remarkably like the ‘Double Diamond’ game.

This has just the three reels and three rows of symbols. There are only nine paylines and these aren’t fixed so you have to decide just how many to activate on each spin of the reels. Playing the game costs between £0.10 and £27.

Symbols in the game are a trip back in time with a single green bar, double purple bar and yellow triple bar. There’s also red 7’s and the Triple Diamond logo which plays a really important part in this game.

That’s because it’s the wild symbol in the game as we move back to modern day technology. This can match all the other symbols in the game to get you some winning combinations. If that gets you a win and one wild symbol is involved the win receives a 3x multiplier. If two are involved, then the multiplier goes up to 9x. If you’re lucky enough to get three of the Triple Diamond logo symbols on an activated payline that rewards you with 1199x your line bet.

Three of the red 7’s will also have you cheering as that wins you 100x your line bet. This is a game that you could well end up playing for a fair while. If that’s the case, then use the autospins button every now and then. This can set between ten and fifty automated spins of the reels and can be stopped at any time. That’s handy if you get a good win and want to defend it.

This may only have three reels and fewer symbols than usual, but it’s still important to take a look through the payable. That’s accessed by clicking on the button in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. That gives you all the information you need to know about wilds, how much each winning combination pays and the paylines. More information is available by clicking on the question mark seen at the bottom right hand corner of the screen which has all the game rules. Then just have some free games and see just how the game runs.

If you fancy having a bit of a retro night, then this is for you. It may well lack any bonus games and there’s not a free spins option in sight, but it’s still worth playing. It’s very similar to the Double Diamond game also produced by IGT but the wins are a bit higher and who’s going to complain about that? The wild symbol can certainly get you some good wins and if you can get three of them on an active payline you’ll really feel like celebrating.
