African Simba review

Slot games take you all over the world and they love featuring animals too. Well this game from Novomatic kills two birds with one stone (though we’re assured no animals were hurt in the making of this slot) with a game that takes us off on wild safari to Africa where there are plenty of lovable animals and a few that’d take your head off at the first chance.

‘African Simba’ is set on the African plains and we get to see that in the backdrop to the game. This has five-reels, three rows of symbols and a total of 243 different ways to win. You have to decide just how many different ways to win you’re going to be activating. If you decide to just activate one reel that gives you three ways to win. A bet multiplier of three takes it up to nine ways to win, three reels is seven to 27 ways, four reels will have you playing with 15-81 different ways of winning and for the whole five reels your multiplier is 25 and that gives you all 243 different ways to win, Playing the game costs between £0.02 and £50.

Symbols include water buffalos, meerkats (not selling insurance thankfully), lions, giraffes and flamingos. Rather disappointingly we get to see the nine to Ace playing card symbols, that’s at least one too many in my opinion. Give us some more animals to enhance the theme.

The Lion is wild in this game just as he is in real life. If this symbol appears it can substitute for other symbols and this can bring you some wins you wouldn’t otherwise have had. It may be the mighty lion but even so it can’t substitute for Kilimanjaro which is the scatter symbol in ‘African Simba’ as that would increase your chances of triggering the bonus game.

Prepare yourself fully for playing this game. That means reading the paytable and the game rules. That will teach you all you need to know about the game. Have some free games and then you’ll see just how the game runs.

There’s a gamble feature in this game and it’s the pick the next card variety. Correctly guess the colour of the next card to double your win or the suit of the next card to quadruple your win. It’s a gamble for sure and so easy to totally blow the win that you’ve just got, so be careful with this.

Bonus Game

Three of the Kilimanjaro scatter symbols will get you into the Bonus Game. You’re given 12 free spins to play with. Any wins that you get during the free spins round will be tripled so this is a bonus round well worth triggering.

Here’s another successful game from Novomatic. ‘African Simba’ is a fairly straightforward game to play but there are good chances to get some excellent wins. That’s definitely the case if you can get into the bonus round is definitely worth triggering because of the triple wins during the 12 free spins awarded. Be careful with the gamble feature though because that’s an easy way of losing the winnings you’ve just managed to get. It’s a shame that there aren’t more animal or African-related symbols rather than six of the playing card symbols which really is overkill. It’s still an enjoyable game to play though.
