Here’s a game that is going to leave you feeling a little bit hungry. Hopefully though the wins that you can get from Novomatic’s ‘American Diner’ slot game will pay for a few nights out in your local fancy restaurant.
This isn’t quite your local fancy restaurant though, it’s more likely to specialize in burgers. Rather than some smooth classical music in the background there’s a jukebox blaring away just like you might have seen in shows like ‘Happy Days’ for example. A look at the main characters in this entertaining slot indicates it’s based more on ‘Grease’ than anything involving The Fonz. There is more than a passing resemblance with Danny and Sandy that is for sure.
Even though the game is called ‘American Diner’ the game isn’t actually set in one. There’s no backdrop of teenagers stuffing their faces or dancing to the music from the jukebox. Instead we just get a red and blue background which is a little bit disappointing. The symbols used in the game do make up for this though.
The game has a total of five reels and three rows of symbols. To get wins you have to have matching symbols on adjacent reels so lots of chances to get winning combinations. It probably won’t win any design awards anytime soon but they are entertaining enough. We get the Danny and Sandy lookalikes, a jukebox, a 1950s car, a hamburger meal with French fries and a drink and an American Diner logo. We also get the nine to Ace symbols which is a bit of overkill really, let’s have some more symbols that actually represent the theme. I’ve had spins of the reels that end up with just three theme-related symbols out of 15 available spots.
It’s the American Diner game logo that is the wild symbol in this game. It can substitute for other symbols (not the scatter) to create some winning combinations. The jukebox symbol is the scatter symbol in this game and helps get you into the bonus game, more about that in a moment.
The Sandy lookalike that will give you the best win in this game. Five of them on an active payline will give you a multiplier of 1000x your line bet. That’ll pay for a few meals.
Unfortunately, the soundtrack to this game isn’t the best you’ll have heard and mostly is nothing to do with an American Diner. We do get some jukebox tunes playing when the player gets a winning combination so at least that’s something.
To ensure you know as much about the game as possible, access the paytable. That’ll teach you about the bonus game, the gamble feature and what each winning combination pays. Follow that up with some free games and you can see just how the game runs.
