Anubix review

All of us have probably lost count of how many slot games there are with ancient Egypt for its theme. There are a fair few of them that is for sure. Here’s another one for the list as Novomatic give us ‘Anubix.’

With so many games dedicated to Ancient Egypt it’s difficult to keep coming up with something new. Cleopatra has been done so many times so here we have Anubix who is the god of the afterlife, not a bad job considering he’s a dog. I guess we don’t really get to find out if Anubix exists during our current life-span. It’ll be a bit of a disappointment if he doesn’t though.

This is a five-reel game that has just the five paylines. Don’t let that put you off though as there are still plenty of winning combinations for you to try and win. Playing the game isn’t expensive at all and you don’t need to be activating all the paylines to be in with a chance of getting into the lucrative bonus game.

The backdrop to the game has two giant pyramids in the desert. Symbols in this game aren’t going to be winning any major design awards anytime soon. They aren’t the greatest set of symbols and include a soldier, a religious character, and a pharaoh. There’s also the ten to Ace playing card symbols in a variety of colours.

There are some decent wins to be had in this game though. Five of the pharaoh symbols will win you 1000x the value of your bet and five of the religious character pays 500x.

The female Pharaoh is the wild symbol in this game and has the ability to substitute for other symbols to get you some good wins. This is always handy because it’s just so frustrating when you end up one symbol short of a good win. Five wild symbols on a payline awards you the top prize of 5000x.

Have a look through the paytable to find out all the information about what you can win and how to win it. Then get some free games under your belt to see just how the game runs.

Bonus Game

Keep an eye out for the scatter symbol as that’s really important if you want to get into the bonus round. It doesn’t need to be on an activated payline either and if you can get three of them landing anywhere when the reels stop spinning, then you are in the bonus game.

A second screen comes up and you have a job to do. You need to overturn three stones and by doing so reveal how many free spins you’ll be playing with in the bonus round. This can be between five and 18 if your luck is really in.

During the free spins, Anubix makes an appearance but don’t worry it’s not a greeting after you arrive in the afterlife. Instead he doubles all of your wins so that makes this bonus game really profitable.

Having such an Egyptian theme for this game did worry me a bit to begin with. Can Novomatic come up with something that’s not just the same as all the other Egyptian games reviewed on this site. There’s nothing spectacular in this game but it does have a good look to it and the bonus game has a little bit more for you to do with the initial task of overturning stones. There are definitely some good wins to be had here.
