The slot game world has had many changes over the past few decades. That’s not surprising with all the advances that have been made in technology. We’ve moved on from the three-reel games that were the norm to those with five reels. That means lots more symbols and the chance to introduce impressive second screen games, 3D and more. Heaven knows what slot games will look like in ten or twenty years’ time.
Sometimes though it’s good to take a look back at the past. That’s definitely the case here with the Bar 7’s slot from Novomatic. This has just the three reels and only one payline. Yes, there’s just the single payline in this game but don’t let that put you off one little bit. There’s still plenty of excitement in this game and some good prizes to be won. It’s certainly a good game to play if you’re new to slot games or just want to try your luck on something that’s simple and straightforward.
As you might imagine the design of the game is fairly basic, that’s how it was back in the day. The symbols in the game really are a throwback and include a bar symbol, cherries and the golden bells. For years they were the only symbols I ever got to see really.
Playing the game doesn’t present you with any problems whatsoever. Everything is easy to find so there’s none of those horrible moments when you just can’t find the paytable or the mute button. The game can be played from £0.20 all the way up to £100.
The wins that can be achieved in this game are listed at the bottom of the screen. There are only four multipliers for winning combinations and these go from 5x to 40x if you can get three bars.
The game also has an autoplay button which is situated on the left of the screen. This is handy if you want to have a break from the screen or just can’t be bothered to have to keep on pressing the spin button. You can stop the autospins anytime you want, that’s useful because if a big win comes along or perish the thought your account balance is running low, you can quit the game.
There’s also a gamble button. It’s time to try and predict the colour of the next card and if you’re right then your win is doubled. It’s not as easy as it sounds though and getting the wrong colour takes away your win, so be careful with this and don’t gamble too often on it.
A couple of features in this game really do take you back in time. A random feature is the hold and two of the reels become frozen while the other one spins away. There’s no charge for this and it’s a good way of getting some wins.
The other feature from the past that makes a welcome return is the nudge button. There are three nudges that allow you to re-spin the reels when the one you’ve just had hasn’t created a winning combination. I can still remember the days when playing the old slot games in the arcades that offered the nudge feature. I’d be bending down looking up the reels to see just what symbols could be nudged down onto the payline and if any wins could be created.
Have some free games before playing for real. This will show you just how the hold and bonus features can be used to get you wins.
