Book of Ra 6 review

The Book of Ra slot game series has been a magnificent success for Novomatic. The success of the original game has led to a whole range of ‘Book of’ games and more and more ‘Book of Ra’ sequels. Looking for treasure in Egyptian pyramids has never been so much fun.

The big job that Novomatic have on their hands is to keep on producing the Book of Ra games but include subtle little changes. You can’t just keep churning out exactly the same game time after time, audiences just won’t put up with that.

How do Novomatic achieve a game that’s the same theme but different? Did ‘Book of Ra Deluxe‘ pass the test? Well, in this latest game we have a total of six reels and that gives it a different look. Playing all six reels will entail having to activate the extra bet feature. This does increase the cost of paying the game.

There are ten paylines, again these aren’t a fixed amount. It’s up to you therefore to decide how many to activate on each spin of the reels and your stake. Don’t bet anything you can’t afford to lose, you’re in front of your PC, laptop or mobile device to have fun not add to financial worries.

Again the archaeologist who still looks just like Indiana Jones though a bit younger than Harrison Ford, is off to Egypt searching for the Book of Ra and other treasures. Symbols in the game include the archaeologist, Egyptian artefacts, The Book of Ra and the Ten to Ace playing card symbols.

As with the other games, the Book of Ra symbol barely gets a minute to itself. It’s the wild symbol so can get you wins by substituting for other symbols. It’s also the scatter symbol and helps get you into the bonus game. Why they can’t have two separate symbols I’m not sure, that archaeologist needs a better agent if you ask me.

With a few different features in the game, ensure you know exactly how everything works. That can be achieved by looking through the paytable. All the information you need about winning combinations, the bonus games and the extra bet are there waiting to be read. Also have some free games to see how all the features work, especially the extra bet and the expanding symbol.

All the control buttons are down below the screen so this is easy to operate. There’s also an autoplay feature that allows you to set some automated spins.

Bonus Games

Keep an eye out for the Book of Ra symbol as three of those will get you ten free spins. They can be anywhere on the reels means you don’t have to be activating all the paylines all the time. Just activate one if you want and hope the scatters turn up to help you.

The Book will choose a special symbol for you that has the ability to expand and cover a whole reel. That really gives you a good chance of getting some additional wins.

Also included in the game is the Gamble Feature. When you get a win in the base game the opportunity arises to double it. That sounds an appealing feature but be careful with it. Your task is to decide what the colour of the next card is going to be, red or black? It’s 50/50 of course but remember there’s a 50% chance you’ll get it wrong and lose your win. Ok there’s a 50% chance you’ll win but just beware the pitfalls, especially if you get tempted to be a bit greedy and try and get a few correct guesses. A happy ending isn’t too likely.

As with the other Book of Ra games this is an enjoyable game with excellent chances of getting some profits. It has a good look to it, the soundtrack is bearable and you’ll be likely to play the game for a fair while. Be careful with the Gamble Feature and don’t wreck your financial budget by continuing to activate the extra bet.
