Cash Balloons review

Perhaps there’s a bit of a health drive on at Novomatic. A lot of their games do feature fruit so perhaps they have to have their five of the day. It does bring back memories of the games I’ve played in the past and a bit of retro never does you any harm in my book, unless it’s watching old episodes of ‘Keeping Up Appearances. ’It may be a game with a retro feel but it’s also a rather unique game so a bit of a hybrid really

Up, Up and Away

One thing you will immediately notice when starting to play this game is that when you press the spin buttons, the symbols go upwards rather than downwards. Well they are balloons after all and when did you last see one going downwards, unless it’s been burst of course but let’s not get too technical shall we? The symbols have a rather cartoonish look to them and that continues with the background to the game. The reels are transparent so we get a perfect view of the countryside that could have any number of cartoon characters wander across it any moment. It’s a sunny day and the green hills look perfect for a picnic in the shade of the windmill. Before that though, there’s some cash to be won and there are plenty of chances to get those in this game.

There are five reels and three rows of large cartoonish symbols that are bound to put a big smile on your face and that’s before the wins start rolling in. There are just the five pay-lines in this game, not many but it only takes one to get you a win, doesn’t it?  Those five pay-lines are a fixed amount so you have to play and fund them on each spin of the reels. The minimum cost of playing this game is 0.05 and the maximum 50. That’s a decent range, just ensure you play with an amount you can afford to lose.

The symbols in this slot are of course balloons but rather than getting someone’s uncle to make a rather unconvincing poodle out of a balloon, they all resemble fruit. That means the usual suspects of cherries, grapes, plums, and oranges.  The wild symbol in this game is a little bit different. Yes, it can substitute for other symbols to get you wins but it’s a collection of balloons and is stacked so it covers all three rows. It can sub for all the other symbols apart from the scatter. That’s the blue star balloon and when it shows up on the reels, it can get you a win (hence the lack of substitution) and also helps you get into the bonus round. You need three of those to get some free spins and those come with attached multipliers and can produce some good wins.

Bursting All Over

When a win comes along the balloons that created that win suddenly burst. That leaves a gap in the reels so more symbols float upwards to replace them. The reels are re-evaluated and any new win is paid out. The process is repeated until the new balloons don’t create a win. I love this feature and it always seems to get me some big wins and hopefully it will for you too.

It’s always a good idea to do some research before playing a slot for real. That’s easily done by reading a review, going through the paytable, and having some free games. The latter option is particularly important as it shows you how the features in the game works, especially when those balloons start bursting.

When you do get a win, there’s the chance to double it. Yes, it’s another Novomatic slot that has a gamble feature. It’s the usual task of correctly guessing if the next card is going to be red or black. It’s all down to luck so only gamble small wins as a wrong choice will see you lose your win.

Similar Slot Games

If you like this game then have a go playing the Microgaming slot ‘Lucky Witch’ which also has wild and scatter symbols and gives players a chance to win some free spins. Also give the Microgaming slot ‘Secret Romance’ a go which can see you getting multipliers on wins and also has some stacked symbols that can increase your chance of getting wins. If you enjoy the bursting balloons feature, then also try out the WMS game ‘Invaders from the Planet Moolah’ where winning symbols also disappear.

In Conclusion

A bright looking game that can’t help to put a smile on your face. It’s certainly an enjoyable slot to play and there are some good chances to get some big wins. The bursting balloons feature is definitely one of this reviewers’ favourites and it can always get you some good wins. Be careful with the gamble feature though, try to keep your wins.
