Dragon’s Pearl review

We’re back in the Far East for another impressive Novomatic slot game. This is based on ancient folklore that tells how young girls would find themselves being kidnapped by dragons. Perhaps they need someone to do the washing up, who knows. They keep the poor children hidden away and become known as Dragon’s Pearls. All we need now is a brave Chinese warrior to try and rescue them and for us slot players to win some big cash prizes, probably more chance of the latter to be fair.

Oriental Adventure

This is a classy looking five-reel slot that has a total of 20 pay-lines on its three rows of oriental symbols. Those 20 pay-lines aren’t fixed so you do have to decide just how many to activate and the stake you want to make for each spin. You can vary the amounts as much as you like and the minimum cost of playing with all the pay-lines activated is just 0.40 and the maximum 30. Simply choose a stake you can afford to lose and enjoy playing the game, whether it be on your PC or on a mobile device.

Before the game starts you are asked to set a Reality Check Interval.  It sounds a bit complicated but actually it’s a good way of ensuring responsible gambling. This asks you to set a time, say ten minutes and then when that time elapses, the game is suspended and the player is shown how they are getting on. If you wish it’s possible to just stop playing but only carry on if your finances are ok.

All the usual visual elements you’d expect to see in a Chinese themed game are here with dragons on both sides of the reels. The soundtrack is suitably oriental and starts with a gong being banged if a scatter symbol makes an appearance. Just remember you’re playing ‘Dragon’s Pearl’ and it’s not dinnertime just yet. If it does get on your nerves (always possible if playing for a fair while) it can be muted. The tapping noise that is played as the reels spin is definitely going to drive you swiftly round the bend.

Golden Delight

Symbols in this slot include parchments, a warrior, bells, one heck of a large snake, the head of a water buffalo, lion’s teeth, and jewel boxes. There’s also the ten to Ace playing card symbols in a variety of colours. The fearsome fire-breathing dragon is the highest paying symbol in this game. If five of them appear on an activated pay-line that wins you 100x your stake.

It’s the Golden Egg that is the wild symbol in this game. It can substitute for all the other symbols aside from the bonus symbol. The scatter symbol is the Dragon’s Pearl and can be replaced by the wild. When that happens, you can win either two or three times your stake. Five scatters on the reels wins you 75x your stake so keep an eye out for them.

Bang That Gong

It’s that Gong which is the bonus symbol in this game and if it appears on the first three reels you receive ten free spins. Those are well worth getting because all wins you get are tripled and it’s possible to re-trigger the free spins if the bonus symbols come along again.

When you get a winning combination, you are given the opportunity to increase the size of your win. It’s another card game but unlike in some of the Novomatic slot games we have reviewed, there’s the opportunity to quadruple your win. You can either try to guess the colour of the next card to double your win or the suit to quadruple it. Just be careful with this gamble because that’s just what it is, a gamble. Make the wrong choice and you lose your win so be warned.

Have a good look through the paytable as that will ensure you have more knowledge about how the game runs. There’s information about how much the winning combinations pay out, what the wild, scatter and bonus symbols do and how the bonus game works. It’s all great research and will certainly help you when it comes to playing the game for real. Also try some free games and that will show you how everything works without having to pay out any real cash.

Similar Slot Games

If you enjoy this game then why not try some others that are similar in gameplay. Give ‘Legends of Greece’ from Saucify which also has 20 pay-lines and a free spins round that has tripled wins. Also try out the NextGen game ‘Swamp Rat’ with a wild symbol that appears on all reels and is of medium variance.

Dragon’s Delight?

An enjoyable game to play which gives its players a good chance of getting some big wins. They are going to come along during the free spins round and if you can get those free spins re-triggered, those triple wins are going to do your account balance the power of good. Be careful with the gamble feature though.
