Nemo’s Voyage review

There’s so much going on under the sea. There’s 20,000 leagues apparently and I bet my football team still couldn’t win any of them. Jules Verne was a creative guy and he’s responsible for the submarine commander Captain Nemo, not bad seeing it was written in the 19th century. The character has been featured in movies and now we have ‘Nemo’s Voyage’ from WMS Gaming.

This is a five-reel slot with four rows and there are 40 paylines. That’s a fixed amount so your big decision is how much you’re going to stake on each of them. The minimum stake is £0.40 so that’s a little bit more expensive than some games and the maximum is £200. A hefty amount to stake on one spin of the reels so only put that on if you can afford to lose it.

The game has a great look to it with transparent reels so you can underwater creatures swimming past. No submarines though but still a good idea. Symbols in the game include Nemo himself, a map, sextant, Hammerhead shark, Blue Whale, harpoon, a deep sea diver and a giant octopus.

The wild symbol is a big Blue Wild (not much invention there) and this will substitute for all the other symbols apart from the bonus symbol to help create winning combinations. The Bonus symbol says just that in a gold design.

This isn’t the most straightforward of games to play as you’ll discover when reading about the bonus games. It’s therefore important to read the paytable and the rules and then play some free games. That’ll have you fully prepared before risking your real cash.

Bonus Games

Keep an eye on the right hand side of the screen because that’s where the depth gauge is situated. As each spin of the reels takes place the gauge takes you deeper into the gloomy depths. On its way it’ll pass a number of bonus features and these can really help get you some good wins.

The Multiplier Wilds are added to the reel and are of the 2x and 3x values so you’ll be delighted when they come into play. The Pressurized Wild makes all wilds become pressurized. Now what in the name of Captain Nemo’s pet turtle is that all about? Well it means that any symbols directly below the wild will also become a wild but only if doing so will create a winning combination.

You’ve probably heard of stacked, transferring and shifting wilds but here we have Clumped Wilds. This means adjacent symbols to wilds also become wild and that really helps you in your quest to get some winning combinations.

Then there’s also the chance to get reels one to three completely wild so keep an eye on how that gauge is going.

When an Increase Pressure symbols lands on the fifth reel that takes it up a level. When it reaches its maximum level you’ll start to ascend and those bonuses start to disappear. This is speeded up if the Decrease Pressure symbols lands on the fifth reel.

There’s also the possibility of getting some free spins. You need to get three of the bonus symbols but that’s not quite as easy as it sounds. That’s because the bonus symbol only appears on the first, third and fifth reels. Doing so gets you eight free spins and during those keep an eye out for the giant octopus. This creature appears and pulls symbols off the reels and replaces them with persisting wilds (you’ll also know these as sticky or frozen wilds). This means that they will stay in pace for the rest of the free spins. Sadly, you can’t re-trigger the free spins but this feature does help you get some wins.

Conclusion

There’s plenty to enjoy about this game. The theme is a good one and the symbols all related to it, though some better ideas for the wild and bonus symbols is needed. The pressure gauge is an interesting one and you can definitely get some good wins because of it.
