For Rome and Egypt let’s also read Caesar and Cleopatra but what does that make you think of? Is it the classic movie with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor with all its glamour or is it Kenneth Williams and Amanda Barrie in Carry On Cleo? Well whether it’s history or laughs that you’re thinking of you might soon be thinking of the WMS Gaming slot machine and the riches it’s given you.
‘Rome & Egypt’ is a five-reel game with four rows of symbols and has 40 paylines for you to try and get some wins on. It’s entirely up to you to decide just how many of those paylines you decide to activate. There are two sets of control buttons that allow you to make this choice. There’s the classic panel where you change the lines and stake one by one or the quickbet panel. That allows you to choose from a selection of stakes and is a lot quicker. The minimum cost of playing the game is £0.01 and the maximum £200, a wide range and it should be reasonably easy to find a stake level that fits in with your financial budget.
The symbols in this game are all theme-related. For the Romans there’s a bunch of grapes, a sword and shield (Caesar might need to look out for those), a wreath, the Coliseum and a Roman temple. On the Egyptian side of things, we have Cleopatra’s staff, ornamental headwear, the Sphinx, the Pyramids and a plum. No sign of an asp though.
Caesar and Cleopatra are the two bonus symbols in this game and both are wild. Not only that but they can also trigger the bonus feature so they’re well worth looking out for.
Just as with setting your stake, there’s two ways of setting an autoplay. You can either use the control button down the bottom left of the screen or use the options button in the top right hand corner. The latter allows a more precise setting including allowing you to stop the autoplays after a certain amount of time, when a specific balance has been reached or after a good win.
Cleopatra and Caesar are the two most important symbols in this game. They are stacked in the base game so that means they’re able to take up more than one space on the reels. If you’re having a lucky day, then they might even take up the whole reel and give you an excellent chance of getting some winning combinations.
If you can get either Caesar, Cleopatra or both on adjacent reels then this can earn you some free spins. Two symbols get you five free spins, three takes it up to ten, four sees it climb to 20 and five will have you playing with a fantastic 50 free spins. I’ve never managed the 50 but have certainly had five or ten a few times. Even better news is that during the free spins all your wins are doubled and it’s possible to re-trigger the free spins.
The more the better of course but not surprisingly the lower numbers of free spins are triggered more often. All wins are doubled during this feature and it’s possible to add more spins to the total but landing more wilds.
This game has a great look to it and the stacked wilds really help you get some good wins. A few more big wins and it might even put a bigger smile on my face than when Kenneth Williams does his ‘Infamy’ speech.
