The Wizard of Oz review

Based on the film of the same name, the Wizard of Oz slot machine from WMS takes slot machine players to new levels with their fantastic Gamefield xD gaming cabinet that immerses the player in high definition visuals and sound. The Wizard of Oz slot machine game features high quality graphics, smooth game play, and great bonus rounds to keep you entertained throughout your playing session. There are two themes for The Wizard of Oz slot; Emerald City and Haunted Forest. Both of these themes offer the same features and game play, but offer a different visual experience. You may find them both side by side, or separate on the casino floor.

Bonus Features

As well as the 40 paylines, the Wizard of Oz slot also features six bonus games, all of which make excellent use of the long screen to add a depth to the game play that is not often seen on many non-3d slot machines.

Winged Monkey: This is a free spin bonus that turns some of the reel symbols wild. The wilds are made up of apples hanging on branches across both screens. A bunch of these apples are then overlaid onto the reels to complete or create the winning lines per free spin.

Glinda the Good Which: Another free spins bonus, offering 5 free spins with expanding reels and wilds to make for up to 1080 different combinations.

Haunted Forest: A simple picker type bonus round, with a grid of Oz symbols with either credit amounts or advances hidden behind each coin. This is a bit like the Super Jackpot Party bonus round, but of course with better sound and visuals.

Emerald City: This is the same as the Haunted Forest bonus mentioned above, but is on the lighter themed version of the slot machine. You have 25 picks on the Oz coins, with the credit value determined by the amount staked per spin.

The features are repeated for the two themes, but carry different names. There is also a progressive bonus which generally lingers below the $500,000 mark. Due to the unique nature of the slot machine cabinet, you often attract watches, although it is worth pointing out that the people watching will not experience the same level of visuals and sounds as the person sitting in the chair, so this slot machine is definitely worth a look the next time you visit a land based casino.
